School & Career Counselor

A school counselor works in the community and social service occupation group. To be a school counselor, you have to have your master’s degree in school counseling. You also have to have a state issued credential. A school counselor typically earns $26.23 per hour, and makes about $54,560 per year. A nice thing about being a school counselor means you don’t work weekends, you get major holidays off, you work during the days; you don’t have to work any nights. I am interested in becoming a counselor because I enjoy helping people through their problems, and I like to be around people and kids. Being a counselor could fulfill both of those likes of mine.

License Practical Nurse (LPN)

An LPN works in the health care business. To become an LPN you have to have a postsecondary nondegree award. You also work under/for registered nurses (RN) and doctors. An LPN makes around $21.20 per hour, and about $44,090 per year. Where you work, depends on what holidays and weekends work. I think being an LPN would be interesting because when I was young, I wanted to be a doctor, but did not want to do the surgery parts. So becoming an LPN would be a good fit because I would work around the surgeries, but not perform the surgeries.

Accountant

Being an accountant requires you to have your bachelor’s degree in money and business. As an accountant, you examine records and make sure money is accurate. An accountant makes about $32.76 per hour, and makes around $68,150 per year. Where you work depends on the holidays you get off, and what shifts you work. Being an accountant is something that has always been interesting to me. I say that because my favorite school subject is math and I enjoy working with numbers.
